“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

We actually did use K98's and very good they were too! The picture was taken later in the day when everyone grabbed the MP40's to put on a combined firepower demo with the MG42's. I'm not a believer in turning training days and games into photoshoots, so only got a couple of pictures.

12th SS Panzer Grenadier...Late war. The MP44 Shoei, and it is new. I traded my MG42 for it to a fellow board member Maccrage. Still need appropriate MP44 mag pouches, and more mags for the beast!

Random...

Looks pretty sorted to me Mig 8)

As a bonus, you're young enough to carry the Hitlerjugend look off a damn sight more accurately than most who choose the 12th SS!

Looking good.

Although helmet covers are unusual for LFD, more common is the inner tuber or a very large weave string net on the helmet.

Good stuff all the same though.

Nice to see someone doing something a little different and not another 101st as a first loadout!

Dont forget late war you can mix and match regular army uniform as the LFDs came under army control and not the luftwaffe.

(incidentally when i first stated wargaming WWII I painted a compnay of LFD as my first force so they are close to my heart.)

some good pics here:

oh and are you getting a k98 or going to get mp40 pouches at a later date?

Looking good, even splashed out on some boots I see! 8) I take it you are wearing a tunic underneath the smock and are just hiding it because of the lack of insignia?

I'm sure you were in a rush for the photo smelly but one of your gaitors must be on upside-down (unless you have two the same) - buckles on the outside with tongues pointing to the rear. The Christmas tree could do with a bit of TLC as well!

Heh, spiffing kit though - looks like the MP40 has had a bit of weathering too! (get those boots greased up else you will have very wet feet)

heh... just wondering, I'm no expert on German uniforms, but why are there two straps hanging loose at the front?

I bloody hate that grass thing. the amount of times it's poked me in the eye when I'm answering the phone. Problem is the wife likes it.

but why are there two straps hanging loose at the front?

Because you can never have too many straps (so Gadge tells me..)

I would hook those loose ones to the pouches and leave the back ones free (Yith, they are hooked onto A-frame back pack if worn, otherwise just dangle)

Yeah the straps should attach to the a frame, personally i thread mine on to my belt behind the ones that attach to the ammo pouches. Keeps them well out the way and helps keep the webbing stable.

Imp, nice to see some more line inf impressions, in the incredibly unlikely scenario of me ever doing a US loadout it would be like yours, classic look!
